Cancún-to-Campeche Tour

Daniella and Paul are organizing a trip from Cancún to Campeche for themselves with their families and guests who would like to join.  The idea behind this tour is to get from Cancún (where many people are flying into, and some are taking a few days vacation before the wedding) across the Yucatan Peninsula to Campeche for the weekend’s events, taking in some of the sights and activities along the way.

Guests are asked to confirm and pay for the tour ahead of time.  If you would like to join the tour but haven’t yet confirmed with Daniella or Paul, please let them know as soon as possible!

Overview

  • Guests fly in to Cancún by Monday, March 28th or earlier.
  • Depart Playa del Carmen & Cancún in the morning on Tuesday, March 29th.
  • Travel across the Yucatan by private tour bus taking in these sights and activities:
    • Chichén Itzá – huge Mayan city with incredible pyramids, recently voted one of the new Seven Wonders of the World
    • Valladolid – a lovely little town in central Yucatan
    • Mérida – one of the most livable cities in Mexico with a quiet colonial center to explore, we will likely spend both nights here and have ample time to take in its sights
    • Haciendas – beautiful old estates in the area surrounding Mérida such as Hacienda San Jose Cholul, Hacienda Xcanatun and Hacienda Temozon
    • Cenotes – take a refreshing swim and relax in the clear water of an idyllic underground cenote (i.e. sinkhole), some along the route which we’ll visit might include Ik Kil (near Chichen Itza), Dzitnup (near Valladolid), Cuzamá (near Mérida)
    • Uxmal – spectacular Mayan city deep in the jungle, less visited than Chichén Itzá but more highly rated and recommended by locals and tour guides!
  • Arrive in Campeche on Thursday, March 31st to join the beginning of the weekend’s wedding festivities.  We will be arriving around lunchtime, giving everyone ample time to get settled into their hotels before the Welcome Cocktails that evening.
